Answer

VNC2Me is based on SSH Port Forwarding (otherwise known as port Tunneling). The following sequence should help explain what occurs behind the scenes:
  1. Support Technician Starts a “View Desktops” session, by selecting the tab, and pressing “View Desktop” button.
  2. VNC2Me then Establishes an encrypted Secure Shell (SSH2) connection using plink.exe to our hardened (or your custom) internet servers.
  3. After a connection is successfully made, a secure Data Tunnel is established using the SSH connection and the session code specified (or random), and the software shrinks to convenient size. This “Mini” GUI (General User Interface) is “always-on-top”, with a BIG button to close vnc2me (and remove everything if run from temp dir (ie 7zip EXE)
  4. The UVNC Viewer is started in listen mode (accepting connections)
  5. The Session Code is then provided to the Client, who inserts the code into the “Session Code” box on the “Share my Desktop” tab (default tab), and clicks the “Share Desktop”  button.
  6. VNC2Me then Establishes an encrypted Secure Shell (SSH2) connection using plink.exe to our hardened (or your custom) internet servers.
  7. After a connection is successfully made, a secure Data Tunnel is established using the SSH connection and the session code specified, and the software shrinks to the “Mini” GUI size.
  8. VNC2Me then starts a UVNC SC connection through the Secure Data tunnel to the waiting Support Viewer.
  9. UVNC SC then asks the tech if they wish to accept the connection
  10. This connection request contains minor details about the sharers computer configuration.
  11. After Accepting the connection, the support tech then has full-control of the clients desktop, with the ability to control, watch, chat and transfer files securely between the computers.
SSH can be used to tunnel any TCP protocol securely, VNC2Me simply aims to make the setup of tunneling for VNC purposes as painless as possible.
